49ers After School Academy

Mission
The mission of the San Francisco 49ers After School Academy is to improve student achievement by inspiring creativity, promoting team work, and providing a fun, safe, and supportive place for students to be after school.

About Us
The San Francisco 49ers After School Academy was established in the fall of 2009 to provide high quality after school programing for students kindergarten through eighth grade in East Palo Alto's Ravenswood City School District. The After School Academy works closely with teachers and principals to support the academic gains being achieved during the school day.

Elementary Program (K-5)
There are three components to our elementary program: literacy support, homework help, and enrichment. Literacy support consists of standard aligned lessons which include vocabulary development, read aloud, and comprehension. During homework time students work in small grade level groups to get the academic support they need. For enrichment, students have the opportunity to participate in everything from outdoor games to harmonic lessons!

Middle School Program (5-8)
There are two components to our middle school program: homework help and project based enrichment. For homework help we have partnered with certified teachers at the school; as a result, we are not only able to offer students a space to quietly work on their homework, but students who need extra academic support are able to receive small group instruction from their regular school day teacher.
Providing middle school students with engaging and meaningful enrichment is essential to creating a strong program. That is why our staff has worked to create quarterly clubs that run for two hours a day, five days a week. These nine week long clubs have a project based curriculum where students are expected to create a project plan, implement the plan, and have something to perform, show, or celebrate at the end of the nine weeks. At the beginning of each quarter students get to select which clubs they would like to join. Once they have joined a club they are committed to that team for the entire nine weeks. Some of the clubs we offer include: Girls and Boys Athletics, 8-80 Media Team, Youth and Community Service, Girl's TV, Choir, Yearbook, Cooking, Art, and Gardening.
